Those who have no trouble getting behind a microphone and belting their heart out, and those who like to watch others get behind a microphone and embarrass themselves will be pleased to hear about AsiaLIFE’s great karaoke find.
Sing Your Heart Out
With truly something for everyone, Le West Club features a variety of thick binders with Khmer, Korean, Chinese, French, and English selections. This also means that you can bring your Khmer and French friends and colleagues with you on the big night. Singers and non-singers alike can belt out Beatles, Britney, or Bonnie (of karaoke favorite “Total Eclipse of the Heart Fame”). Each room comes with two microphones, perfect for heart wrenching duets and massive group serenades. Rooms also leave plenty of space for dancing. Lyrics are broadcast on the televisions or screens, accompanied by music videos clearly from the eighties. The videos portray melodramatic lovers in various cities of the world. It is fun just to see how good you are at guessing each locale. Some videos are also quite risqué.
Something To Consider
Karaoke in Asia is not without it’s risks. Sure enough, the downstairs lobby can often be filled with an unusual amount of young girls in glittering traditional garb. Ignore them and they’ll leave you alone. At least two girls are assigned to each room, but they serve the very functional purpose of working the karaoke machine and plugging in song requests. They also get a big kick out of barang performances. As the place tends to fill up on certain nights, it’s best to call in advance and make a reservation. Don’t take any chances when risking a night of karaoke filled fun. Be your very own pop idol for the night, but you may regret it when a video of your performance appears on You Tube.
