German filmmaker and fishery expert Peter Degen from the “Mekong River Commission” presents two of his breathtaking docus about Cambodian waterways. MEKONG THE MOTHER (2000, 60 mins, English) portrays the Lower Mekong River Basin through its mainly rural population living from the rich natural resources. WHEN THE FLOODS RECEDE (2001, 60 mins, English) offers close insights into the lives of Cambodian fisher women and men. It shows one of the biggest fisheries in the world driven by the biological productivity of the large flood pulse of the Tonle Sap lowlands linked to the Mekong. Mr. Degen will also show a surprise clip and hold a Q&A after screening.
