The Second Coming

This month, Sam returns to his favourite subject – sex!

This topic may bare repeating – a healthy, active sex life can help you lose weight by burning as many calories as running 30 miles a week. That’s three times a week, the longer the better!

In addition, most experts would agree that sex in a good relationship has a healthy effect on the body and mind, may help you live longer and even slow down the aging process.

Having sex, like exercise, produces endorphins and prostaglandins hormones. These hormones not only provide you with a good workout but also help to reduce pain levels, relieve stress, boost your immune system and lower cholesterol levels. As far as studies go, two pieces of recent research at Harvard and the University of Texas/Austin recently confirmed a link between keeping fit and a healthy sex life. First, men who exercise for 20 to 30 minutes per day were half as likely to have erectile problems as inactive men. Second, women’s vaginal responses were 170 percent greater in healthy women after exercising.

So sex can make you healthier, and being healthy certainly improves your sex. The more fit you are the more enjoyable your sex can be. You’ll have a higher sex drive, better stamina, improved arousal and better flexibility. On the flip side, a lack of fitness can cause problems with your sex life, including lower sex drive, difficulty with arousal, inability to have an orgasm, and restriction in sexual positions.

All the more reason to hit the gym and stay fit.
